We are very proud of the output that students broadcast and so we entered three students for the Sony Radio Award for Schools 2009. The entries were from Josh Morris, Rosie Swan and Ruari Bush. We are please to announce that Ruari Bush has won the Award. The award was for a programme or programme sequence which sought to provide entertainment and information, including the presentation of a significant amount of music in the overall mix. Entrants were expected to demonstrate a lively presentation style combined with a knowledge of both the music and their audience needs. Credit was given for the incorporation of additional editorial content such as news, competitions and interviews. Ruari will be invited to a boardroom luncheon at the headquarters of Sony in the UK and a chance to see some of the latest Sony innovations in development. The college will receive a trophy and a prize of Sony equipment to the value of £750 to improve the radio station. In addition, we have been offered the free loan of a ‘state of the art' audio studio facility provided by Clyde Broadcast Products. The responsible staff member will be invited to the national Sony Radio Awards dinner alongside the star performers from commercial radio and the BBC. Ruari's entry can be heard here . Well done to everyone involved. |
